Faculty Appointed to State Licensing Board
Anita Nucci, assistant professor of nutrition, was sworn by Governor Nathan Deal on February 19 as the newest member of the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians. This board, whose members are appointed by the governor, regulates the activities of professional dietitians and issues licenses to the more than 2,260 registered dietitians (R.D.) in Georgia. An R.D. must have a Georgia license to legally practice in the state.
A pre-eminent dietitian, Nucci also works in pediatric nutrition therapy clinical trials. She and her fellow researchers recently published early results of type I diabetes prevention research trials.
Jana Kicklighter, associate professor emeritus, served the first board from 1992 to 2002 and chaired it during 1994-1995. In addition, two Georgia State alumni, Page Love and David Orozco, serve as chair and vice chair of the current board.
